Latest Nissan Altima Becomes the New Teana for China
Nissan and its Chinese partner Dongfeng Motors lifted the veils off their new local market Teana sedan during a press conference in China on Tuesday in front of more than 1,000 (!) journalists and dealers from all over the country.

If the mid-size sedan looks eerily familiar, its because the Teana is the same car as the North American Altima with some barely noticeable changes such as the added chrome strips on the lower sections of the doors and rear bumper, and the front grilles, the white markers on the headlamps and the revised tail light graphics.
The Teana will be manufactured at Dongfeng Nissan’s plant in Xiangyang, Hubei province, and is set to go on sale in the country in late March. It will be offered with Nissans latest 182hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine matched to an Xtronic CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission).
According Nissan, the previous generations of the Teana achieved more than 700,000 sales in China since its introduction locally in 2004, a success the company believes will continue with the new model.
“It doesn’t get any more important than this. This is the flagship of the Nissan range in China. This represents everything that we are about,” said Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer, at the launch in Guangzhou.
“We are confident because the new generation Teana is a stronger product," said Dongfeng Nissan Vice President Ren Yong. "It contains even more of our efforts and we’ve done thorough preparations for it. We hope that with the launch the new Teana, it will bring momentum to dealers and for our sales. It will also allow customers to experience the benefits of the new Teana and return us to a position of strength.”

Rolls Royce Limousine in New Way
Reviews Rools-Royce on the Road

Rolling on the road this month, the salon is a new Rolls Royce. Unlike its predecessor, this limo is something new shop - which runs on electricity. Category of vehicle manufacturers in the UK, £ 10,000 cost model has approximately proud to announce that the limousine Rolls-Royce Phantom first.

Rolls-Royce Phantom, with rising prices, the revised model. Only the ghost of its original price of 300,000 yen - compared with $ 1 million in funding for the spines of children to be the new Electric Rolls-Royce. It has new electrical power and phantom phantom experiments (EXP 102) even though the facts have been replaced, are still available for the public opinion measuring electric vehicles, vehicle fuel to help will be displayed throughout the world.

Zero-emission vehicles, electric charge can be a limousine in your home. That compared with 8.1 MO gasoline, so miles per 2T small as they are cost effective and environmentally friendly. This gives a large amount of money each year, may reduce the cost per quarter. But you need a lot of money to pay for the car to begin with.
All cars from Rolls-Royce luxury, this car is the one with the super-rich. However, this show is not a big part of the technique can be combined with electric luxury vehicles. This is a major advance for the electric car is a means that may have an electric car future too much most of us.

Experimental electric car maker car, now we see them on screen so easily accessible. And whether and how to affect performance, such as severe weather conditions are still to be overcome, many problems still exist. Electric vehicles, in the early stages is still experimental, is still evolving technology, we are 10 years into the future, want to see in a new era and fuel our vehicles.

Phantom power is to evaluate customer feedback, the pilot began in Geneva in 2011 to get feedback, you. Then we just for the Olympics, we hope to sell in 2012. So we need to start providing better!

New 2013 Audi Q3 S review
Entry into the luxury segment is becoming more affordable. But while most are launching premium hatches, Audi answers with a pared down Q3 SUV.
And that’s not all. Audi’s taking another unprecedented step – this Q3 2.0 TDI (it will be called the Audi Q3 S) will come with a six-speed manual gearbox and won’t have Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. Also, the key challenge for Audi lies in cutting down on equipment without making the Q3 feel too pared down – buyers will still expect it to feel like an Audi.
Our car is a test mule and has fabric upholstery, manual seat adjustment and all-black interiors, but the company says the final car will have all the trappings that customers will expect from an Audi, and that means leather seats, climate control and the optional sunroof (see box). What it won’t have, and what might matter to owners, are Audi’s signature LED headlamps, which were just too expensive to leave on the Sport’s standard equipment list.
The front-wheel-drive Q3 comes with a lower powered 140bhp 2.0-litre engine, identical to the one in the A4. Audi knows that for buyers of entry-level luxury cars, the badge is more important than the engine. They don’t want best-in-class performance as long as they are not left wanting. That’s exactly the case with this Q3. Press down on the light clutch, engage first gear and you’ll discover a smooth clutch action. The Q3’s engine makes a healthy 32.6kgm from as low as 1750rpm and torque stays healthy till 2500rpm.
The Q3 S is quite enjoyable to drive – the gearbox is slick, light and positive and you will often find yourself shifting gears just to revel in the shift action. This Q3, despite its lower power (the Quattro comes with 177bhp), never feels slow. This is partly due to the fact that this car, at 1445kg, weighs a considerable 140kg less than its all-wheel-drive sibling.
That means this two-wheel-drive Q3 gets to 100kph in 9.9sec as against the Quattro’s 8.3sec – not too bad a disadvantage, and in the real world, has more than enough performance. Compare it to rivals like the BMW X1 and the Mercedes-Benz A 180, and you’ll see that it is pretty much par for the course.
Like we’ve come to expect of recent Audi diesels, this four-cylinder, 2.0-litre TDI is smooth and very refined, and Audi’s ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure is a decent 17.3kpl.
As for the way it drives, this Q3, in the dry conditions we drove it, had plenty of grip and we really didn’t miss the all-wheel-drive traction of its sibling. The handling is secure, if uninspiring, and the Q3’s stability at speed is rock solid. It rides well too – the suspension is pliant and handles broken surfaces well.
As for the insides, even on this test mule, fit and finish are as good as you would find on any Audi, and there’s really no difference in the way the dashboard looks. The dials are the same, the steering wheel and gear lever are leather wrapped, and there’s even an MMI system. Sure, there is some lightness to build quality, but even in this trim, the dashboard feels a lot more interesting than say the BMW X1’s.
This is a compact SUV, so the cabin is a bit cramped, especially at the rear. Legroom and headroom are just about adequate, but not if you’re very tall. The seats are nicely cushioned and have a nice upright stance that’s good for long drives. Compared to the A-class, the Q3 is far more spacious and practical but then again, compared to the stunning looking baby Merc, the Q3 looks boring. If there’s a weakness, we feel it’s with the Q3’s styling – it’s too generic and fails to excite.
Audi plans to price it at Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), a good Rs 2.5 to 3 lakh less than the current Q3’s starting price. At this price, Audi also hopes it will tempt people who are in the market for other soft-roaders like the CR-V and the Captiva.
As is, the Q3 is a reasonably spacious, practical and well equipped soft-roader that will appeal to a broader spectrum of people than its intended competition. It comes with a strong, refined diesel engine, an easy-to-use manual gearbox and has most of what owners will expect from an Audi. We think Audi has a winner on its hands.

Jaguar XFR seeks new limits on

Years ago, a group of (premium) manufacturers mutually agreed to all their regular models can be limited at 250 km / h. Thus, a speed contest could be avoided and the development budget to spend on other things. Jaguar has always neat to this Agreement, but has now apparently enough.
Speed Pack
the XFR need thanks to its 510 hp because little effort to do the 250 km / h to reach. And who wants a super sedan drive that its potential can not fully utilize? At Jaguar why they invented the optional Speed Pack. Besides a new spoiler and Aero Splitter as visual cues are the most important change takes place in the engine. The limit is to be raised to 280 km / h and thus you bang on the Autobahn so beautiful every AMG, M and RS over. Well, unless they also have the limiter removed, because the Germans to offer such a package today. To the new top speed comfortably reach Jaguar has also changed the setting of the gearbox and the engine also slightly underway.
XFR-S
For whom 510 hp and 280 km / h is really too little, the British also an XFR-S. With an estimated 550 horsepower must be a real M5-killer who allegedly even only at 290 km / h in the limiter shoots. The sprint to 100 km / h is expected to be only 4.5 seconds to complete. So enough spectacles to look forward to.

New Car Review 2012 Mazda 6
There are great mysteries in automotive journalism, as in life itself. The one Ive been pondering lately is why you dont see more of the car pictured above on streets all over America.
The car is the 2012 Mazda 6, and as weve been telling everyone wholl listen for years, if youre shopping for a family sedan, this car absolutely needs to be on your test drive list. Not only does it hold its own in every comparison with Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion and Chevy Malibu, its arguably a more satisfying car to drive.
That is actually just a "Mazda thing". They focus more on driver involvement...and, as weve mentioned in reviews of other Mazdas, they live up to their slogan "Always The Soul of a Sports Car".
The 2012 Mazda 6 we drove recently came from Chapman Mazda in Phoenix. And it came absolutely stock. No options. A base price of $21,240 gets you a 2.5 liter V6 with 170 horsepower and a 5-speed automatic transmission. 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, dynamic stability control, air conditioning, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, an AM/FM/Sirius/CD/mp3 audio system with six speakers and an auilary jack, power windows and door locks.
Tack on $795 for delivery, processing and handling and the bottom line is $22,035. Very, very, very reasonable for any family sedan...and with this one, you get the added fun quotient.
Seriously. Drive one. Thank us later.
2012 Mazda 6
Base price: $21,240.
As tested: $22,035.
Likes: Solid, roomy and fun to drive.
Dislikes: None.
EPA estimates: 22 city/31 highway.

New Car Review 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek
![]() |
The 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek. |
I have only one complaint about the 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek.
The one they sent me was painted the same shade as Walter Whites Pontiac Aztek.
I really figured that color was something the studio made up to telegraph just how dull and drab ol Walts life was before he, you know, started cooking meth and killing people.
But, no. Subaru will sell you an XV Crosstrek in pretty much that same color. They call it "Desert Khaki". There are 7 other colors and youre free to make your own choice. I wouldnt pick "Desert Khaki", but if I were in the market, a Subaru XV Crosstrek would definitely be on my list.
As weve noted before, Subaru excels at the basics. Solid, reliable vehicles endowed with full-time four-wheel drive for not much money.
The XV we tested was the Premium model, which in this case, is the base model (the Limited is the step up). It starts at $21,995 with a 5-speed manual. Switch to a Continuously Variable Transmission like our tester and it jumps by a grand to $22.995.
For that, you get a nifty little crossover that has a raised suspension, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, 17-inch alloy wheels, larger fuel tank and brakes (compared to the Impreza wagon on which its based), and...with the CVT, one that gets an estimated 25 miles per gallon city, 33 highway (which our week of mixed driving suggests is entirely realistic).

While were on winter stuff, theres been a remarkable cold snap at TireKicker World Headquarters in Arizona....and the Subarus heater was a godsend. 2 minutes tops and hot air was ours (this is not a given...two Lexuses weve had recently have needed 10 minutes before any discernable heat was generated).
You also get two 12 volt power outlets, an outside temperature gauge with road surface freeze indicator, and an audio system with Bluetooth, iPod control capability, USB and auxilary jacks and six speakers. The only other niggle: Whoever wrote the warning that appears on-screen when Bluetooth and your cell phone fail to connect doesnt speak English as a first language. I meant to write it down or snap a picture of it and neglected to. But youll get the idea, and it will remind you where Subaru comes from.
The only option on the tester was the Moonroof and Navigation package for $2,000...so with$795 for destination and delivery charges, the bottom line wound up $25,790. Thats not a bad price at all. Skip the Moonroof and Nav and youre at $23,790....for a spacious yet small crossover SUV with both bad weather and light off-road capabilities that gets 33 miles per gallon on the highway. In our book, that pegs the value meter.

New Car Review 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid
As impressed as we were with the 2011 Kia Optima just a month ago, nothing could have prepared us for the Kia Optima Hybrid.
Heres the recipe: Take everything that makes the Optima a winner, and add a hybrid powerplant. But make it a hybrid powerplant that delivers the mileage. 24 mpg city/34 highway in the gasoline Optima becomes 35 city/40 highway in the Optima Hybrid...good enough to vault into 7th place on TireKickers Top 10 Fuel Savers, ahead of smaller, lesser-performing cars like the Honda CR-Z and Lexus HS 250h.
Best part of it all? The price spread between gasoline and hybrid is small as such things go...$4,005. Now, admittedly, thats the difference between $22,495 and $26,500. But if your priorities include using less gasoline and putting fewer pollutants into the air, there are higher prices to pay.
Much like the gasoline version from a month ago, this Optima Hybrid was loaded. You might remember the $22,495 wound up being $27,440. Well, in this case, a single option, the $5,000 Premium Technology Package (Nav system with backup camera, Sirius Traffic, an Infinity audio system, panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink and compass, upgraded 17-inch tires with alloy wheels, auto-leveling HID headlamps, leather seat trim, drivers seat memory, heated and cooled front seats, heated outboard rear seats, a heated steering wheel and power front passengers seat) ran the price with $750 freight and handling to $32,250.
Yeah, thats a pricey Kia. But again, its less than five grand above the loaded gasoline version.
So...the big question: Hows the mileage? Well, we did 225 miles of purely city street driving over the course of a week, and got 31.0 miles per gallon. Yes, the EPA estimate is 35 city, but the small print under that number says "expected range for most drivers 29 to 41 mpg". So were in the ballpark. As always, your mileage may vary. Id bet on having hit 35 had we done our usual amount of freeway driving...and on a roadtrip, 40s probably realistic.
Bottom line: Kias on a roll, and the Optima is a contender not just among family sedans, but among alternative-energy vehicles as well.
2011 Kia Optima Hybrid
Base price: $26,500
As tested: $32,250
Likes: Styling, smooth power, impressive mileage for its size.
Dislikes: Overly sensitive tire pressure monitoring system.
EPA estimates: 35 mpg city/40 mpg highway.

New Car Review 2011 Chrysler 300
![]() |
The 2011 Chrysler 300. |
This is the second 2011 Chrysler 300 the press fleet folks have sent our way in the past few months. I wrote about the first one for High Gear Medias Carnewser.com a couple of weeks back. That first car came option-free...sporting a price tag $7590 less than the 2011 Dodge Charger reviewed here on TireKicker in late September.
The Carnewser.com piece focused on my trying (and failing) to understand why Chrysler, working to set itself apart as an upscale brand would build and sell such reasonably priced examples of their flagship, the 300.
Since then, though, word has come that Chryslers dropping the ax on the Dodge Grand Caravan. Come 2013, theyll only be selling the Chrysler Town and Country, setting off speculation that once Fiats, Alfa Romeos and Lancia-sourced Chryslers begin appearing in showrooms, the product mix between those brands, Dodge and Jeep may be very different from what we see now.
So lets assume a plan is in the works and assess the 300 on its own merits, absent percieved price crowding with its cousin, the Dodge Charger.
![]() |
The 2011 Chrysler 300 rear view. |
First of all, even in base form. the 2011 Chrysler 300 is drop-dead gorgeous. Its a completely different design from the last generation, relying on subtle cues to tie the two together. The details are superb and the effect sets the 300 apart as the only big American sedan of its kind.
The new Chrysler Pentastar V6 is a revelation...strong, smooth and economical. Even with a five-speed automatic (an 8-speed is on tap for 2012), the EPA says 18 city, 27 highway, and we saw a rock-steady 20 miles per gallon in a week of nothing but city streets.
![]() |
The 2011 Chrysler 300 interior. |
Like example number one, this 300 was the base model, with a base price of $27,170. Unlike the first car, this one had options...but just two. $295 for Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl Coat exterior paint, and another $295 for Customer Preferred Package 27E...Chryslers Uconnect voice command with Bluetooth.
Fold that in with the standard equipment (4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, stability and traction control, brake assist, hill start assist, all the airbags a car can hold, power locks, keyless entry and pushbutton start, 8-way power drivers seat, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, an AM/FM/Sirius/CD/mp3 audio system with 6 speakers and USB and auxilary connections, and dual-zone climate control and while you dont have the pinnacle in luxury, you do have a remarkably equipped, very quiet, comfortable and reasonably quick big sedan for $28,585 with destination charges.
Ive decided to stop worrying about why Chrysler offers this car for so little money. There are people who will be very glad they do.
2011 Chrysler 300
Base price: $27,170.
As tested: $28,585.
Likes: Room, quiet, fuel economy for its class.
Dislikes: Pairing and connecting phones with the Bluetooth system is a lengthy, hit-and-miss proposition.
EPA estimate: 18 mpg city/27 mpg highway.

New Car Review 2012 Acura TL
I am not a fan of plastic surgery. Too many botched jobs out there reminding us every day that the nose wasnt really that big or other bits werent really that small. In the case of the 2012 Acura TL, however, Im prepared to say that sometimes a nose job is really what the patient needed.
In case you dont remember the 2009, 2010 and 2011 TL, heres the "before" picture:
If you think its not so wonderful in pictures, trust me...thats a flattering angle. A change was needed...and now, we have one. The TL is, as it was before 2009, a conventionally handsome sport sedan.
The good news is that overall, the package as a whole has had a chance to jell, too. While not the canyon-carver that the TL with SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) is, the TL holds its own quite nicely. Up front is a 3.5 liter V6 that makes 280 horsepower and its hooked up to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift. Theres also four wheel disc brakes, front double-wishbone suspension, a rear multi-link suspension, electric power-assisted rack and pinion steering, and a high-flow sport-tuned exhaust system.
Our tester was the Advance model...a package that includes a blind spot information system, ventilated front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels and all-season tires, as well as the Tech Package (navigation, backup camera, AcuraLink communication system with real-time traffic and weather, leather sport seats, push-button ignition, GPS-linked, dual-zone automatic climate control and keyless access with a security system...plus an AM/FM/CD/DVD-Audio/SiriusXM/Hard Disk Drive Dolby Pro Logic II ELS Surround Sound audio system, along with an auxilary jack and USB connection for your personal music player (as astonishing as the demo disc of the DVD Audio system sounds, its a very nearly dead format, overtaken by the comparatively low-fi iPod).) in the base price of $41,535.
Yes, I said GPS-linked climate control. No, Im not kidding. Heres Acuras explanation:
The GPS-linked automatic climate control system further enhances occupants comfort level by tracking the suns position and intensity. The GPS positioning technology monitors the suns location relative to the cars position while a sensor on the dash measures the suns intensity. By knowing which part of the cabin is receiving the suns rays, the system compensates to keep each side of the cabin at its designated temperature. The system is completely automatic and requires no manual adjustments, regardless of outside conditions.
Wow.
Base price is also bottom line in the case of our tester. Zero options, just the standard $885 destination and handling charge, which made the final tally $42,420. For that, in addition to what weve already mentioned, you get the full complement of airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake distribution, active head restraints, tire pressure monitoring, a power moonroof, LED taillights and fog lamps.
Inside? Well, like most Honda products of the past few years, its a gadget and button fest. But as other manufacturers have chased that particular rabbit, weve had a lot of opportunities to get used to it.
Other no-cost goodies: Driver recognition memory system, power seats (10-way for the driver, 8-way for the front passenger, both heated), HomeLink, Bluetooth, steering wheel-mounted controls for audio, phone, cruise and trip computer).
While 280 horsepower isnt epic power for a sport sedan in 2012, it is more than adequate to move the TL with some authority. And theres a bonus...better than typical gas mileage for its class. The EPA says 20 city/29 highway.
Overall, the TL is an attractive package. And more so than last year. Especially from the front.
2012 Acura TL
Base price: $41,535.
As tested: $42,420.
Likes: Balance, handling, a superb (if technically outmoded) audio system, new front styling.
Dislikes: If Honda can clean up the nose of the TL, they have to be able to get the button count in the cockpit down to three dozen or so.
EPA estimates: 20 city/29 highway.

The good news is that overall, the package as a whole has had a chance to jell, too. While not the canyon-carver that the TL with SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) is, the TL holds its own quite nicely. Up front is a 3.5 liter V6 that makes 280 horsepower and its hooked up to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift. Theres also four wheel disc brakes, front double-wishbone suspension, a rear multi-link suspension, electric power-assisted rack and pinion steering, and a high-flow sport-tuned exhaust system.

New Car Review 2012 Honda Ridgeline Sport
When I first started professionally TireKicking (reviewing automobiles) 15 years ago, things were pretty predictable. Most of the major manufacturers made sure one of every model they sold wound up available at least once a year. Sometimes more often. If a model was long in the tooth and about to be replaced, it might skip a year. But by and large, you could pretty much count on yearly refreshers.
As the economy got more challenging, manufacturers got a bit more selective...sometimes only putting vehicles into the press fleet that were all-new, significantly refreshed or that had added some bit of standard or optional equipment that had not previously been available.
And then theres the Honda Ridgeline. I first drove one seven years ago...the summer it was introduced. It was also the last time I drove one. Thats right...somehow, the Ridgeline has sat out six years worth of local press fleet duty...until now.
Honda has pretty much left the Ridgeline alone all this time. The differences between the 2006 and 2012 models are largely cosmetic and even those are extremely subtle. The Ridgeline was a bit of an odd duck in the summer of 05 (it was an early 06 model...introduced in March)...a smaller-scale Chevy Avalanche with a carlike demeanor, one medium-powered V6 engine and decent fuel economy.
Today? Well, the world has caught up with the Ridgeline in a lot of respects. It now seems an infinitely more sensible vehicle than the Avalanche...in the same way that the Pilot now is more in tune with the times than the Tahoe.
Price certainly works in the Ridgelines favor. The new for 2012 Sport model was the one Honda sent our way for a week, and its MSRP is $29,995. That is also (save for an $810 delivery charge) where the price sticker ends. Ours came with zero options. The Sport model includes black 18-inch alloy wheels, a black honeycomb grille with black surround, black headlight housings and black taillight housings (pass on the Sport model and the RT costs only a bit less, at $29,350).
The 3.5 liter six makes 250 horsepower and is paired to a five-speed automatic. EPA estimate is 15 city/21 highway. Theres a heavy duty automatic transmission cooler, four-wheel drive, four-wheel disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension and a heavy duty power steering cooler.
It accelerates briskly, handles well, rides nicely. And the storage space below the bed is a major plus. If it were being introduced today, we might be using terms like "re-thinking the modern pickup truck".
Its behind the wheel where you find that while the world has caught up with the Ridgeline in some ways, its blown right past it in others. The dash design and textures are clearly from last decade. The column-shift automatic too easily lands in "2" when you want "D"...which you discover a minute or so later when you see that 55 miles per hour is getting you 4,000 RPM on the tach.
And no matter how much money you spend, you cant buy connectivity in the RT, Sport or RTS model. A USB connection? Not available in any Ridgeline. Bluetooth? Only if you go all the way to the top-of-the-line RTL with navigation...which starts at $37,280.
If you want any other Ridgeline, you can play your iPod/iPhones music through the perfectly adequate 6-speaker AM/FM/CD unit (SiriusXM is also reserved for the RTL), but you cant charge it via USB and youre stuck with aftermarket solutions for hands-free phone calls. Not a big deal for some folks...but a very big deal for others. And with hands-free becoming a legal requirement in many states, I tend to view Bluetooth as a must. The number of cars Ive tested in the past year that dont have it I could count on one hand. If the Ridgeline is going to soldier on (rumors of a new one for 2016 abound), then its time to make the relatively small investment behind the dash to add Bluetooth and USB capability.
