Video BMW Union Workers in California Fight Back

The showdown between BMW and the 68 union workers set to lose their jobs on August 31 at the Bavarian firms distribution plant in Ontario, California, continues to escalate after Teamster members and their families protested outside 50 BMW dealerships in 11 states in the beginning of the month.
Today, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters that represents the soon-to-be-laid-off employees said union members of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) have been organizing informational pickets at 10 ports in nine countries over the past few days to show their solidarity with the BMW workforce.
"This is what international solidarity is all about: Crossing state lines, seas and borders to help workers whose jobs are threatened," said ITF President Paddy Crumlin.
"BMW is planning to outsource good, middle-class jobs," said Bob Lennox, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 495.
"Many of these employees have worked there for decades – some as long as 30 years. BMW told these workers they were a family, and then proceeded to hire union-hostile lawyers to help it exploit Americas plant-closing laws. BMW and its lawyers at Jackson Lewis are condemning 68 American families to poverty and misery" Lennox continued.
In addition to the protests, BMW union workers recently launched a dedicated website under the name "BMW Ultimate Misery" where they have uploaded a series of videos to aid their cause.
On its behalf, BMW said that the decision not to renew the contracts of the 68 workers is not related to the union or wages but about operating its Ontario facility in the same way it does with its other North American plants through third-party workers.

Prices for the new BMW Series 4

The successor of the BMW 3 Series Coupe already has prices for the Spanish market. The initial range of the new German sports sedan will go from 41,900 euros for version 420d Coupe up to 57,800 euros 435i xDrive Coupe 306 hp.

Resented in Detroit last January of a prototype, the BMW 4 Series is ready to make the leap to the European market after the summer. The German brand has unveiled its new prices dyes sports sedan with coupe for the Spanish market. BMW returns to use the name of even numbers to differentiate your sports and coupes models such as X6, Series 6, Z4, ... and what will be the future X4 or Series 2.

The new Series 4 start marketing in three versions, all with turbocharged engines: the 420d variant of access to the range with a four-cylinder diesel engine and two liters with an output of 184 hp, the 428i, powered 2.0 petrol and 245 hp, and the 435i, with three-liter engine six-cylinder petrol and 306 hp. The latter two are also available with four-wheel drive xDrive, with a premium of 2,600 euros compared to rear wheel drive.

It will fall when hit the market three versions: the 420i, access to gasoline, with a 184 hp 2.0, and end caps in Diesel from six-cylinder turbodiesel engine, the 430d of 258 hp and 435d of 313 hp. The latter which will be erected a change ZF eight-speed automatic, while the rest will be associated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox.

The new BMW 4 replaces the BMW 3 Series Coupé from which it derives, but with different dimensions: the Series 4 is 26 mm longer, 43 mm wider and 16 mm lower, thus leaving in 4.638 meters long, 1.825 meters wide and 1.362 meters high. The wheelbase has also increased by 50 mm, and this is in Series 4 of 2.810 meters.

Vorsteiner Readying New Tune for BMW M6 Coupe and Cabriolet Models

In January, Vorsteiner announced the release of a new set of forged aluminum concave wheels finished in brushed aluminum and available in sizes 21"x9.5J for the front and 21"x11J for the rear end of the BMW M6 Coupe (F12) and Cabriolet models (F13), but that was only the beginning.

The tuner is now working on a full styling and exhaust package for the mightiest models of the 6-Series range that are both powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 at 552hp (560PS) and 516 lb-ft (700Nm).

For now, Vorsteiner is teasing its M6 Edition Package through a set of renderings depicting the coupe model fitted with an aero kit that includes a modified front bumper with a lip spoiler, side skirts, a boot lid spoiler and a new rear diffuser, all made out of carbon fibre.

The car is also riding on a different set of deep-dish wheels finished in black with beefier tires than the original.

The pictures do look real and are similar to what we had already seen in spy photos. The Gran Turismo has, like the 5-Series, a higher and larger rear section that will take some time to fully appreciate it, and while we didnt expect any changes in the front it features an updated grille and new bumpers.

The 5-Series GT was considered a flop, it didnt sell what BMW was expecting and pretty much the public did not like the weird rear section. But it seems BMW isnt giving up on this idea. The new car is 200 millimeters longer, 110 millimetre longer wheelbase and stands 81 millimeters taller than the Touring

The engines will be the same available on the rest of the 3-Series range, and the public presentation will happen at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks. Below we have the normal GT and the M Sports Package.
