When we got our Frankfurt tickets, one of main priorities was to get you a glimpse of BMW’s electric car for the future. For more dynamic driving or out-of-town routes, a high-performance three-cylinder petrol engine also comes into play. The sports car has an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h and space for up to four occupants.
The 349 horsepower hybrid has nearly 80 mpg fuel consumption. A lithium-ion battery pack works simultaneously with the three-pot works in tandem and front-mounted electric motor pulled from the i3 and driving the front wheels. Also the i8 has a perfect 50/50 weight distribution, measuring 4632mm in length, 1955mm in width and 1280mm in height, comparable to the 3 Series coupe in dimensions.

Both the BMW i3 and the BMW i8 will be built at BMW’s Leipzig plant in Germany.
